The Summer Programme Has Launched!

Ballyduff’s summer programme is already under way. The first performance on 28th May was at the Thompson Primary School, Ballyrobert. On the wettest night for many weeks the band played indoors to a large crowd at the school’s annual summer fete.

On the following Saturday in glorious weather the band were at St Brigid’s Church Summer Fair. This of course is where the band now rehearse.

A busy weekend was completed at Loughshore, Newtownabbey on the Sunday afternoon.

On a rather “nippy” Thursday evening the band made their first appearance at Hazelbank Park. There was a sizeable crowd there to hear the band give an “airing” to some of the new repertoire, “Tyrolean Trumpets” a cornet trio featuring Mark McKnight, Jenny Hill and Mark Smyth (Sparky).

They followed that with “For Your Eyes Only” highlighting the silky smooth flugel sounds of Ian McClinton, and a reference to the band’s origins as a flute band, the quick march, “The Pacer”.

There were also a few old favourites making a welcome re-appearance, “The Young Amadeus” and “The Best of Bond”, a collection of well-known James Bond themes.
