BBL Spring Festival 2008At the BBL Spring Festival the band were going for the hat trick but unfortunately it was not to be. Having requested number one draw the band opened their section with Philip Sparke’s popular “Music for a Festival”. There were a few slips here and there but overall the conductor and the band felt they had given a good account of themselves. The adjudicator, David Horsfield, praised the band in how well they captured the “exciting style” and also the “warm sounds” the band had. He particularly liked the middle of the band and thought the final Vivo was “technically good”. He did say he would have liked tighter ensemble playing and maybe better quieter dynamics but he concluded by saying it was a “spirited performance”. After the euphoria of 'Brass in Concert' in February it was down to earth with a bump!! Better luck next time! A huge well done to the winners, our good friends the 3rd Carrick Silver Band, under the baton of “Dr” Desmond Graham.
