Ballyduff Silver Band ‘March To Success’ At Fivemiletown 2008
Ballyduff Silver Band won their section at this year’s ‘Brass in Concert’ championship at Fivemiletown. They beat Downshire Brass Band and stole the title from Third Carrickfergus Silver Band by one point.
Apart from taking first prize, they also collected the prize for ‘Best March’. They played ‘The New Colonial’, a march composed by RB Hall. The crowd loved the ‘feel good’ factor of this simple, but effectively styled march and even the adjudicator, Alan Fernie was swaying in his seat to the six-eight rhythm. He said it was the best march that he had heard that day and commended the band’s conductor William Hill on his choice and musical direction.
